After the very successful launch of %Arabica in Qatar (with a second location now open in Place Vendome), Msheireb Downtown now welcomes another niche coffee chain with a Japanese touch, Cafe Kistune Qatar.
Cafe Kitsune‘ first location was opened in Tokyo in 2013. The cafe’s branch in Doha, is their first outpost in the Middle East. The doors to the cafe opened to the public on the 29th of December 2021.
The coffee beans are roasted in Japan and the drinks available are your usual standard set of coffee drinks, from the Espressos to the (Spanish) Lattes, hot and cold, and pastries that are baked in-house.
Pricing for coffee is in-line with the pricing of cafe’s in Msheireb. We got their signature fox shortbread served with a cappuccino for QAR 25/- The shortbread if ordered on its own is QAR 10/- , We say shortbread but its actually just a biscuit (the snapping kind). ‘Homemade’ pastries at Cafe’ Kitsune range from QAR 20 to QAR 45.
We got an Americano coffee to-go and sadly no Kitsune’s came with it, so we do recommend to drink in store, if you can find any seats.
Maison Kitsune, the parent brand, being a fashion brand also do cafe branded merchandise, a selection of which can be bought at their cafe in Qatar. Pricing for these do remain well over average cafe pricing, a cappuccino cup with a saucer for 105 QAR, so I guess, wait for the sale?
