Forget the Staycation. The Daycation is where it’s at. And it’s a much better deal.
Every year I plan a staycation. It’s normally a birthday treat or for our anniversary celebration. But by the time you check-in and settle in there’s not much actual time to relax and enjoy your new surroundings. And as we’ve now joined a health club, which gives us access to a beach and pool, I don’t think I’m willing to spend the extra QAR 500 or more on a bed for the evening. I find packing a bit of a faff for one evening, so god knows how it feels for those of you who have kids. It must feel like hard work, which isn’t the right start to a ‘relaxing break.’
Another reason for a daycation in Doha is because traveling isn’t quite so easy. So it’s a quick fix to feel like you’re on holiday without the PCR tests, research into quarantine rules (exhausting), and worry about how safe it actually is to travel.
